I have been doing genealogy on my family for over10 years. This includes both sides of my family. My father’s families are immigrants from Sweden, all settling in Minnesota. I am planning a trip there this fall to continue to do some research. One of the ways to make this more productive is to set specific goals I want to focus on for each day. Previously, I would travel and then just gather information, with no rhyme or reason. Now, however, my preparation is focusing on specific records I am looking for to fill in their family lives. This also lets me map out my visits so that I am not driving back in forth from the state Historical library to his county of birth. I also don’t spend time finding the same information again, as I am ready to look for something specific.
